Student Voices in The Dallas Morning News

Michael Janak, a senior at Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, wrote a column about young adults and responsible alcohol use in The Dallas Morning News earlier this month. He touched on the potential benefits of an alcohol licensing program as well as the importance of moderation. Check out his piece and tell us what you think!

The way I look at it is this, if an 18 year old has to have a license to drink, then so should someone 21 or older. Otherwise it is still age descrimination.

I couldn’t agree with your comment more. A 21 or 55 year-old that drives drunk should lose their license to purchase alcohol/drink. Maybe that would be a real deterrent for habitual drunk drivers who don’t care about losing their car, but don’t want to lose their buzz. Maybe MADD would be in favor of that?
